THERE are flood warnings and alerts in place for across Mid Wales as Storm Christoph continues to hit Powys.
Natural Resources Wales has 16 flood warnings in place across the nation, and these are the ones affecting Powys;
River Dyfi at Pont ar Dyfi
The A487 North of Machynlleth is impassable due to surface water flooding below the Railway Bridge near Machynlleth Station. The rainfall is forecast to continue today and conditions are expected to deteriorate. River levels at Pont ar Dyfi are rising and are expected to do so for the next 6 hours. There is a significant risk of localised flooding problems from surface water.
River Severn at Abermule and Fron
At 9.50am, the level at Abermule was 3.25 metres and rising. A peak level of between 3.4 and 3.7 metres is expected to occur this afternoon. This will be updated by 6pm or if the situation changes.
River Severn at Aberbechan

River Wye at Builth Wells
At 9am, the level at Builth Wells was 3.76 metres and rising. river levels are rising in the Upper Wye and have yet to peak at Builth Wells.
This will be updated at midday or if the situation changes.
River Wye at Glasbury
At 8.30am, the level at Erwood was 3.48 metres and rising. A peak level of between 3.7 and 3.9 metres is expected to occur later today.
The level at Glasbury was 3.08 metres and rising. A peak level of between 3.2 and 3.5 metres is expected to occur later today.
River Vyrnwy in the Meifod area, excluding Meifod Village
At 4.30am, the level at Meifod was 2.8 metres and rising. A peak level of between 3.3 and 3.6 metres is expected to occur this morning.
The following roads could be affected by flooding; The A495 at Newbridge, near Meifod. This will be updated by 6pm or if the situation changes.
There are also 53 flood alerts in place, and these are the areas in Powys advised to be prepared;
- Upper Severn
- Vyrnwy catchment
- River Usk
- River Wye
- Upper Teme upstream and including Knighton
- Dyfi catchment
