PRINCE Charles was a frequent visitor to Shropshire in the last 70s.

In 1978 he opened the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and a year later he visited Ironbridge to mark its 200th anniversary.

The following year Prince Charles was joined by his future wife, Lady Diana Spencer, at Ludlow Races where she spent time with the Prince's future second wife, Camilla Parker-Bowles.

The heir to the throne also stopped by in Llanymynech where the entire village had turned out to greet him.
