POLICE are warning Chirk residents about people knocking on doors around the town claiming to be from the water board or a gas and electric company.
North Wales Police’s (NWP) Wrexham Rural team posted on Facebook to warn residents in Chirk and Rhos after receiving reports of incidents in the two areas on Monday.
Police were alerted to people visiting elderly residents’ addresses on Friday, January 8.
NWP are advising residents to advise their elderly or vulnerable residents against answering the door to people who do not know.
The Facebook post read: “Please advise any elderly or vulnerable relatives that if they're unsure of who the person is and the visit has not been organised prior, to not answer the door and make contact themselves directly to the company.”
