A NORTH Wales food bank has praised the public for their support during the festive period.

In December 2020, Flintshire Foodbank, which is based in Mold, gave food to 1,104 local people as well as distributing an extra 300 bags of Christmas treats.

Sue Leake, project manager at Flintshire Foodbank, said: "People in Flintshire are so generous and during December we received food donations totalling 26,586.7kg, which is just amazing.

"I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who contributed to that huge amount."

In addition to this, they were also able to give away gifts of shoeboxes donated by the children of Bryn Coch School (386 boxes were made up by pupils) and gave away 500 bags of treats and goodies donated by local schoolchildren via the Rotary Club.

Ms Leake added: "All in all, it was an extremely busy month for our fabulous volunteers – they have courageously battled on during the pandemic and have been so sacrificial with their time, effort and, most of all, they have kept smiling through the busiest month for a long time."
