WE are in lockdown for the third time in a period of a year.

The battle against a new strain of the coronavirus goes on and, meanwhile, we are all pretty much stuck in our homes.

At the very least, it is probably making the situation easier for anyone who has taken on Dry January but generally it is easy to imagine a lot of us are feeling deflated by the ongoing situation.

If you are in the need of a pick-me-up, one of the few weekend traditions we can continue at the moment is getting a good takeaway for a big night in so we have rounded up the 10 best eateries offering takeout and delivery in the evening, as according to Tripadvisor.

They need your support now more than ever – so why not treat yourself?

1. MR LAU'S DIM SUM BAR AND RESTAURANT

Springfield Street

Warrington Guardian:

One reviewer said: "Since everywhere is shut we opted for a takeaway. This was my first Mr Lau's and wow – we were definitely not disappointed. My favourite was the honey chicken and salt and duck gyoza dim sum. All the courses felt fresh and were really hot considering it was a 15-minute drive home. The waiter who greeted us as we collected was friendly and very welcoming too, overall absolutely beautiful. We can’t wait to return when Boris let’s us back in."

2. DELGADO'S

Penketh

A visitor said: "We picked this fabulous trattoria in Penketh where the food is plentiful, tasty and served by very friendly staff.

"We had a mixture of steak dishes off the specials board and regulation pasta and pizza off the main menu. All amazing as was the garlic bread to start and if you go the profiteroles are a 'choux-in' for dessert. Excellent value for a family of five. Heartily recommended."

3. GRILL ON THE CROSS

Lymm

Warrington Guardian:

The restaurant serves Mediterranean, European, Turkish and Middle Eastern dishes.

A contributor said: "Excellent food cooked to order, superb taste and wonderful friendly service. We had the mixed meat dish which was more than enough for two people."

4. BOMBAY 8

Gemini

Bombay 8 has long been a favourite in Warrington and offers Indian, balti, seafood and fusion dishes.

A reviewer said: "Lovely takeaway tandoori mixed grill – tasty and great value. Staff as friendly as ever and all the appropriate Covid safety in place."

5. LALKILLA

Orford

A very popular Indian restaurant.

A regular said: "Can't go wrong with the Lalkilla. Great food and friendly staff. Chicken Sambar is literally the best I've had worldwide. Definitely my go to curryhouse."

6. CHOY HING

Grappenhall

Warrington Guardian:

A long running Chinese restaurant.

A contributor said: "Lockdown enforced takeaways but the Choy Hing did not disappoint. We had steak rolls, chicken satay skewers, aromatic crispy duck and salt and pepper chicken for starters.

"For mains we had Steak in green pepper and black bean sauce and chicken kung po with fried rice. It was all excellent but I would particularly recommend the steak rolls and steak meals. Melt in the mouth."

7. EASTERN REVIVE

Stockton Heath

A small curryhouse chain with a restaurant in Stockton Heath.

One visitor said: "Fabulous menu with some superb chef specials. The garlic chilli lamb chops are incredible. The Darjeeling chicken is a favourite of mine and it is always stunning. If you're after something a little hotter, check out the Eastern Revive jalfrezi. The staff here are brilliant too."

8. CHILLI CLUB

Lymm

Warrington Guardian:

A Thai restaurant in Lymm.

A regular said: "The food is consistently fresh and delicious – we love it. We've eaten in most restaurants in the village and this is definitely our favourite. I'm salivating just thinking about the red curry, or spicy noodles, or chicken and cashew nuts, or stir fried chicken/beef with green beans – you get the drift."

9. CARDAMON

Stockton Heath

A popular Indian restaurant.

A reviewer said: "The attention to detail in the food preparation is just incredible – onions marinaded for 24 hours is just an example of the lengths they go to. Ask the staff about the food and the passion is clear to see.

"The pride in describing how the food was prepared tells you everything you need to know about this place. Try the lamb shashlik or the seabass for starters and take in the beautiful flavours."

10. DOUGH AND LIQUOR

Stockton Heath

Warrington Guardian:

Neapolitan-style pizza with big puffed crusts.

A contributor said: "Best Neapolitan pizza in Warrington without doubt. Brilliant dough. I had vegan marinara with artichokes and it was stunning. Recommended."
