WALTON Hall and Gardens will be open during the new national coronavirus restrictions – but most of its attractions will be closed.

The team has today, Tuesday, offered an update to visitors following Boris Johnson's 11th hour lockdown, causing schools to close.

A spokesman said: "There aren’t many changes to the restrictions we’d already put in place, following the government’s tier 4 implementation last week.

"However, to clarify what the new measures mean for Walton Hall and Gardens, we’ll run through exactly what remains closed and what is open."

CLOSED FOR NOW

Following tier 4 restrictions, Walton Hall closed the children’s zoo, glasshouses and all activities, including the games hut, Thomas land train and fairground attractions. These will remain closed. Appointments to see Walton Hall have also stopped.

The golf course was open under tier 4 but now has had to close under full lockdown rules.

REMAINING OPEN

The park and gardens remain open for exercise like the previous lockdowns.

The spokesman added: "However, following government advice, we advise that you only visit as part of your daily exercise routine – it is against the law to meet socially with family or friends unless they’re part of your household or support bubble."

Going out for exercise should take place just once a day and you cannot stop for a picnic.

ADVENTURE PLAYGROUND

Open as normal but maintain social distancing.

CAFE

The Heritage Cafe is closed today, Tuesday, but will re-open on Wednesday offering only a takeaway service.

CAR PARK

To support social distancing and avoid queues, you can now also pay online as well as using the machines. You can use the Ringo App or pay over the phone on 950080, siting location number 18157.

TOILETS

Open as normal throughout the lockdown.
