PLANS are in the pipeline for 13 new homes on land adjacent to Dyffryn Foel, Llansantffraid.

An application has been lodged with Powys County Council for the development which sees Pickstock Homes partner with Mid Wales Housing Association in seeking to develop the greenfield site with 13 homes and associated roads and drainage.

The development would provide a second phase to the 13 houses that Mid Wales Housing Association and Pickstock intend to develop at the site under current outline planning permission that was granted in May 2018.

The first phase will mainly comprise of houses to purchase for own occupation under Welsh Government’s Rent to Own scheme and a small proportion of affordable houses to rent.

This proposed second phase will provide 13 affordable houses to rent. These houses would be part-funded by Welsh Government Social Housing Grant and be rented out by Mid-Wales Housing Association at affordable rent levels.

There would be a mix of accommodation split between one, two, three and four bedroom houses.

As part of the development there would be one parking space per bedroom, up to a maximum of three.

A design and access statement submitted with the application says: “Residential properties will be in-keeping with the characteristic traits of the properties within the locality. The properties will be constructed in approved red brick with slate coloured roofs.

“The colours of these materials will match the housing within Llansantffraid-ym-Mechain and aim to blend in with the existing surroundings.”

Powys County Council planners will make a decision on the application at a future date.
