CLWYD South MP Simon Baynes has praised the efforts of volunteers at a community foodbank.

On December 27, Mr Baynes made a socially-distanced visit to Pant Ward Community Foodbank where he applauded volunteers for their exceptional hard work in helping the local community.

Mr Baynes, along with his daughter, Francesca, and volunteers at the Pant Ward Foodbank, helped bag together food for those in need.

He was also able to gain a greater insight into the dedication of the volunteers who ensure that the most vulnerable in the area do not go hungry.

Cllr David Maddocks, who helps run the foodbank, said: “Simon heard about the foodbanks we run and offered to help.

"He helped set the tables up, checked the dates on the tins and helped bag items for people, and after the event he helped to clean up.

"I was glad Simon came to help and has seen the work we do in the Rhosllanerchrugog area.

"I would like to thank Simon, his daughter Francesca, and all the volunteers that give their time to help with these foodbanks.

“I would like to add that if there is anyone in the Rhosllanerchrugog area that requires help, then please join our Facebook Pant Ward Community Page for future updates.”

Mr Baynes, added: "The work of the volunteers there is exceptional and I was really impressed with the dedication and commitment they have shown and continue to show in helping those in our communities who are in need.

"In what has been a difficult year, I am really delighted to see the community coming together in a safe way to ensure that people don’t go without over the festive period.”
