THE people of Newtown have been asked to help chronicle the town’s glorious past.
The People’s Collection of Wales and Newtown Library are seeking the help of residents in helping collate information on the photographic collection of the late town mayor and esteemed local historian David Pugh.
With more than 4,000 photographs spanning decades of the town’s history the chances are everyone would recognise some of the collection.
Tom Pert of the National Library of Wales said: “Many of these historical photographs record Newtown’s rich industrial heritage, as well as the changes to the town through new building developments.
“The collection is full of locations and buildings that you will be familiar with, as well as events that some of you will remember.
“This project is an opportunity to share Newtown’s history with the rest of Wales, and beyond, and your contribution will be extremely valuable.”
If you would like to help and can spare a few minutes of your time, visit this site and register as a contributor on the David Pugh Crowdsourcing website.
Once on the website you’ll find how-to videos and further instructions and guidance on the simple steps that will help make these photographs available for free, forever for everyone.
