Theatre lovers in Oswestry unable to get to the town's main company will be able to watch shows online up to Christmas.

The Attfield Theatre is usually preparing for its Christmas shows, including its popular panto, but with Covid-19 regulations in place, there is no possibility of performing to live audiences.

Debbie Jones, chairman of the Attfield, says the company has not been spending their time away from performing resting, but finding ways to bring their work to the people.

And she says that there will be something available every day of December.

She said: "As our theatres all over the country but we have not been idle.

"We have produced a program of theatrical treats for our audience including themed Shakespeare clips, and an audio production of Charley's Aunt in two half-hour parts and two scary stories for Halloween.

"We are now preparing to launch a Christmas season for all the family starting on December 1, with the Attfield Advent calendar, everyday a performance either musical, poetical or theatrical, to enjoy for your coffee break.

"And we will do a very special audio performance of the Pantomime ‘Toad of Toad Hall’ which will be released on Friday, December 11 and will be available right through to the end of January.

"It is perfect to sit down with all the family and enjoy a bit of panto fun.

"There will be wonderful performances from a talented cast including our very own Malcolm Lord as Washerwoman. We have a few more surprises to entertain as well."
