An ELLESMERE woman is set for another festive period of selling calendars in memory of her son, who died from a rare form of blood cancer.

Beverley Turner Cox, through her Everything Ellesmere online store, is selling a 2021 calendar of her own photography through the town to raise money for Blood Cancer UK.

Her son, Richard John Humphrey, died from a rare form of the disease more than a decade ago, but Beverley – who now works a grief counsellor helping others – believes the calendars are a way of raising funds for a charity whose work saves many people with similar conditions to Richard.

She added that she hopes people will be able to help her raise funds through buying the the 2021 calendar.

"I think I have been doing the calendars since around 2013," said Beverley.

"Richard died in 2008 from Burkitt lymphoma, which is a form of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and is relativity rare but very aggressive.

"It was very unexpected. We moved up here from Eastbourne in 2010 and I started the calendars in 2013.

"Originally I was just doing the calendars for my friends but then people started saying that their friends had seen them and wanted one too.

"So I started to sell them to others too because all of the profits were going to Blood Cancer UK. We do Christmas Cards too and fridge magnets to raise money for a group that helped me.

"I'm an advanced grief counsellor now as I found that a big help and I want to be able to help others cope, as it took me a long time to to work to that.

"This is all inspired by him because I wanted to help an organisation that has been so much help to us.

"Their research intro stem cells would have saved Richard's life but it was just after his time, so I just want to help them with raising money."

The high-quality photographic calendars, which come with a sturdy envelope, cost £6.50.

Beverley added: "They are cheaper this year as we are all needing to save a little.

"They are available from Ismays, Sue Haskey Chiropodist and from me at Everything Ellesmere.
