THE Wynnstay Group in Llansantffraid has pledged to meet the requirements of a government improvement notice served on them this week.

An animal medicine improvement notice was served on the business on Wednesday, October 21 after a visit two weeks earlier to the company, which is based at Eagle House in Llansantffraid.

A spokesman for the group, which offers agricultural goods to the farming and rural communities, confirmed the notice came after an unannounced inspection, and that it was not linked to the quality of their feed.

They added that the company is already in the process of ensuring all improvements demanded are being carried out.

“On October 8, 2020, the Wynnstay Group PLC in Llansantffraid, Powys received an unannounced inspection from a Veterinary Medicines Directorate (VMD) inspector.

"Following this inspection, Wynnstay was issued with a notice of improvements, following failure to comply with some elements of the Veterinary Medicines Regulation (VMR) 2013, with a deadline for completion of November 5, 2020.

“We have taken this matter very seriously and immediately on receipt of this notice have worked very hard to rectify any concerns and meet all improvements quickly and effectively.

"A large proportion of the work has already been completed to the satisfaction of the VMD inspectorate.

"The notice, the first of its kind received by the site, was part of an annual review and is in no way linked to the quality of our feed.

"We will ensure all conditions are complied with and returned to the highest standard by the end of our notice period and ensure it remains the case as we move forwards.”

The government notices scad that the Wynnstay Group failed to comply with Schedule 5, paragraph 5(2) of the VMR, specifically with regards to the Feed Hygiene Regulations (EC183/2005) which requires feed processing and storage facilities, equipment, containers, crates, vehicles and their immediate surrounds to be kept clean and effective pest control programmes to be implemented.

The improvements required are perimeters cleaned; disposal of rubbish; neglected areas and gaps allowing vermin entry attended to; fat leakages repaired; water ingress and residue build up removed.
