WITH many people turning to a ‘staycation’ for a getaway this year in light of the Covid-19 pandemic and travel restrictions, many people will be looking for a break from normality closer to home.
More and more people are opting for a short stay in a cosy log cabin, something the north Shropshire area has plenty of.
This was the case for reality TV star Katie Price, who recently enjoyed a weekend getaway at Henlle Hall, Gobowen, with her partner Carl Woods.
We have taken a look at five log cabin resorts in the area which could be an ideal place for a break nearby.
1. Brookside Leisure Park, Bron Y Garth, Oswestry
SITUATED a 13-minute drive away from Oswestry town centre, Brookside Leisure Park boasts wonderful, reaching views over the north Shropshire and North Wales countryside.
A stone's throw away from the border, visitors can enjoy views of Chirk Castle in the distance while relaxing in a hot tub.
2. Woodland Park Lodges, Ellesmere
SIX minutes outside of Ellesmere by car, there is another set of cabins near to the border between England and Wales.
The idyllic setting makes it perfect for those who enjoy being in the countryside – and you can bring your four-legged friends too!
3. Winston Farm Lodges, Tetchill
These cabins lie beside the Shropshire Union Canal and are also surrounded by plenty of open space to explore.

4. Gadlas Park, Dudleston Heath
THIS log cabin park in Dudleston Heath is ideal for a family getaway, and for those who enjoy fishing.
The site has a fishing lake to offer, as well as usual log cabin facilities including a hot tub.
5. Henlle Hall Lodges, Gobowen
AS MENTIONED previously, Katie Price and her partner recently enjoyed a visit to this site situated around six miles from Oswestry.
Hoseasons describe the lodges as perfect for a romantic break or a relaxing retreat.
