A MAN was taken to hospital by air ambulance after collapsing in Oswestry town centre on Thursday morning.
West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) was called to English Walls shortly before midday with reports of a man who had collapsed in Central Car Park.
Two land ambulances attended the scene, with a paramedic officer and a Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford which carried a MERIT team onboard.
A spokesman for WMAS said: “We were called at 11.52am.
“Crews arrived to find bystanders performing CPR on a man who had collapsed.
“Ambulance staff took over resuscitation efforts and managed to restart the man’s heart at the scene.
“He was then taken by air ambulance to Royal Stoke Hospital in critical condition.”
