OSWESTRY Town Council has thanked a principal organiser of a popular flower display competition for her hard work.
Betty Gull has been a long-serving member of the Oswestry In Bloom competition and this year came to the fore in maintaining the event despite the pandemic.
She was met at Cae Glas Park last week by the town's mayor, Councillor Duncan Kerr, for an official presentation of thanks.
Cllr Kerr said: "We met and thanked Betty on behalf of Oswestry Town Council for all her work alongside with all the Oswestry In Bloom volunteers.
"Miss Gull kept people’s sprits up by providing beautiful flower displays in Church Street, Blackgate Street and on Central Car Park, while the Oswestry In Bloom Committee also judged every front garden in Oswestry sending out certificates to all the winners.
Miss Gull added: “The Beautiful Front Garden Competition was a huge success, the certificates gave much pleasure and cheered people up at a very difficult time.
"Everyone’s efforts during lockdown have been staggering with plenty of excellent gardens on show."
