A WHITCHURCH artist is aiming to raise as much money as possible for charity during October through the sale of her artworks.

October 10 marks World Mental Health Day and following months of lockdown and the difficulties faced by millions over the course of this year, many believe World Mental Health Day is the most important one yet.

Clarrie-Anne Cooper, 30, has spent the past 12 months painting watercolours during lockdown in order to keep exploring her creative side, which gave her the idea to sell her works for charity.

She spoke with her employers, Cartridge People, with the idea of hosting an auction for paintings she would create to convey mental wellbeing.

This idea was agreed and the auction will take place throughout October, raising money for mental health charity Mind.

As well as the auction, Clarrie-Anne turned 30 on October 1 and raised £220 for Mind through a birthday Facebook fundraiser.

Whitchurch Herald:

Clarrie-Anne said the events of 2020 placed more of a focus on mental health than ever before and said she was glad to be helping raise money for Mind.

“I’m delighted to be able to raise money for Mind by doing something that has helped my mental health this year," she said.

"With the events of 2020, I don't think there's been a more important time to highlight the help and support available to anyone that's struggling.

"I hope that everyone likes what I've produced and hopefully we can raise money for the charity through the winning bids.”

Meanwhile a spokesman for Mind added “Making positive change can seem so hard, especially during uncertain times. And sometimes, it can be hard to know where to start.

"Take the opportunity this World Mental Health Day to find out more about how you can start with one thing.”
