Caernarfon Town 0

The New Saints 4

It WAS a trip worth making up to the coast of North Wales for The New Saints as they continued their unbeaten start to the season with a win at Caernarfon Town.

Scott Ruscoe’s side played out a goalless first half with their hosts, but sprung into life in the second half, scoring four goals.

Louis Robles netted two as he opened his account in the league for the Saints, before Dean Ebbe and Ben Clark made it four.

Kwame Boateng made his debut for TNS at right back, while Tom Holland came back into the team in midfield.

The in-form free-scoring Adrian Cieslewicz nearly added another goal to his tally for the season early in the afternoon, but the winger fired his effort over the bar as Saints grew into the game.

Centre back Ryan Astles was next to come close for the visitors in the 22nd minute, as his strike shot narrowly past the post.

TNS thought they had taken the lead moments later when Robles headed home a cross delivered by Cieslewicz, but the assistant referee deemed the forward to be offside.

Chances came few and far between for both sides until after the break, and it was the hosts who nearly opened the scoring.

Mike Hayes rounded Saints stopper Paul Harrison and struck goalwards, but Astles had raced back onto the goalline to clear any danger.

Moments later the deadlock was broken by Ruscoe’s men – a cross delivered by Danny Redmond fell nicely for striker Robles who headed low into the corner of the net to make it 1-0.

And eight minutes later, the striker was celebrating another headed goal, this time finding the net after connecting with a Chris Marriott corner.

Ebbe bagged a third for TNS with 20 minutes to play, after receiving a pass from Cieslewicz in the penalty area and finding the net with a powerful strike.

Saints had found their rhythm and rounded off the win with a well-worked move finished off by Ben Clark in the 93rd minute.

TNS remain unbeaten in three league matches and are still yet to concede a goal.

They travel to Bala Town tonight (Wednesday) for their next match (kick-off 7.45pm).
