Shropshire organisations are being called on to sign up for free training which will help them identity the signs and then support staff experiencing domestic abuse.
High Sheriff Dean Harris, who brought together Shropshire Chamber of Commerce, West Mercia Women’s Aid and Shropshire Domestic Abuse Service to facilitate the webinar (which will be repeated three times this October) is calling on more organisations to book their place.
She said: “We’ve been really pleased with the positive response to the training, and there are many people already signed up.
"But with one in four women and one in six men experiencing domestic violence in their lifetime, the onus is on all organisations (private, public and charitable sector) to ensure they know how to support staff impacted by this issue.”
The sessions are open to both members and non-members of Shropshire Chamber of Commerce, and will include advice on recognising the signs, signposting to local specialist services, an introduction to an online interactive resource for employers and how to develop a Domestic Abuse Policy.
The training lasts for 90 minutes, and will be Tuesday, October 20 from 2.30-4pm and again from 7.30-9pm; or Friday, October 23 from 9.30am to 11am. Visit www.shropshirechamber.co.uk/events for more information or to book.
