THE winners of a pet photo competition organised by Age UK North Shropshire have been announced.

Organisers have named the winners who helped to raise more than £350 to support older people in the north of the county.

Entrants submitted photos of their four-legged friends, which impressed the judges in each of the categories.

Anne Wignall, chairman of Age UK North Shropshire Supporters, thanked those who entered the competition.

She said: “We’re very grateful to everyone who entered the competition and generously supported Age UK.

“It was really difficult choosing the winners because all the pets are really beautiful so we had to consider factors like composition and quality of light too.

“They are obviously much-loved pets and so are all winners at the end of the day!”

The winner of the Prettiest Puppy or Kitten section was Max Dalziel from Shrewsbury with his puppy Luna, with the pair also coming third in the Pet Most Like their Owner category.

Martin Wild and Jeanette Downward from Whitchurch won the Most Beautiful Cat section with Simba, an 18-month-old Ragdoll cat.

Rennie Thompson’s Rosie the Dachshund won the Most Beautiful Dog category, while Joanna Hughes from Dudleston Heath won the Best Action Shot with her 10-year-old Labrador, Lucy.

Sian Gamble from Ellesmere took a wonderful photo of her son, Ethan, with their dog, Wispa, to win the Pet Most Like their Owner category.

Other winners across the categories were Diana Flint and her granddaughters, Sophie, Felicity and Henrietta Apps; Alice Morcumb; Kristina Williams; Ana Salvador-Garvin; John Edge; Daniel Bebbington; Julie Booth; Sharon Williamson; and John Anslow.
