AN OSWESTRY Rugby Club player has signed for a club in the top tier of elite women’s rugby.

Abi Kershaw, who was described by the Oswestry club as ‘undoubtedly one of their best talents’, has made the switch to Worcester Warriors Women’s team.

After captaining the under-18s side at Oswestry, Abi went on to make her international debut for England’s U18s last year.

Her standout performances have earned her recognition from big clubs, and she is now set to compete in the Tyrrells Premier 15s League against teams including Saracens Women, Harlequins Women and Wasps Ladies FC.

Abi’s departure from Oswestry prompted messages of support from the club.

A spokesman said: “Undoubtedly one of the clubs best talents, Abi Kershaw, signs for Worcester Warriors Women.

“A fantastic achievement which is testament to Abi’s phenomenal work ethic.

“Abi is a great role model for all within our club, especially the girls section with all she has done within the women’s game so far.

“Congratulations Abi.”
