Astrophotographer Pete Williamson captured this spectacular view of massive cosmic cloud commonly known as Thor’s Helmet.
The Whittington–based stargazer took the image last week and and kindly shared with the Oswestry Advertizer Camera Club.
Pete used a two metre (78.7) Ritchey–Chrétien telescope to capture an out of this world image.
The emission nebula lies in Canis Major, about 11,960 light-years away from Earth.
A light-year is the distance light travels in one year, or about 6 trillion miles (10 trillion kilometers).
