The manager of a Chirk cafe has praised the generosity of those visiting last week during a charity fundraising event.

Chris Davies of Caffi Wylfa, in Castle Road, praised those who visited the cafe on Friday to purchase food and drink to raise money for Nightingale House Hospice.

Half of the cafe’s takings on Friday were donated to the Wrexham-based hospice.

Chris was pleased to see people purchasing goods from the café and also donating money to collection boxes.

He said: “We predict there would have been more footfall had the weather been better on the day.

“It did go well and the people who came along were really in the spirit of the idea.

“As well as purchasing food and drinks, they were also feeding the buckets and donation boxes with money which was just great.

“We had a lot of interest over the phone as well from people who wanted to donate things.

“Obviously with the current Covid-19 situation, donations have to be done differently, but it was great to see and it was a very good day.”

Chris added that the event may return in the future, and hopes the café will soon hold one of its Donate Don’t Dump events again.

He said: “We’re trying to organise one of our Donate Don’t Dump days, but again with the current situation, it will be done slightly differently to how it was before.”
