We regularly marvel at the quality of the snaps we receive for the Oswestry Advertizer Camera Club – and this week’s selection shows exactly how good our camera-clutching club crew can be.

Take Michael Cole’s picture of a hungry kingfisher – for example. These tiny birds are difficult to capture at the best of times, so getting one mid-snack, as Michael did, is an exceptional piece of work which must have taken a blend of timing, know-how – and incredible patience.

Dave Hutton’s shot of fighting horses is similarly stupendous, as is the sillhouetted bird shot by David Mottram.

And the quality continues throughout this week’s selection, whether it’s Jenna Parry’s mallard, Brian Roberts’ bee, Hella the labrador by Wendy Clough James, or Paul Hanrahan’s scenic shot of Oswestry racecourse.

Over the page is 12-year-old Charlie Taafe’s picture of Chirk Castle, showing the next generation of Camera Club members are already showing their abilities.

We have wildflowers from Madhukesh Loomba, and asolitary swan swimming along, caught by Mary Morgan.

Our returning favourite – Lady – has been sent by Hannah Edmonson.

Next to that is Phil Pointon’s walk around north Shropshire, bringing him around Clive, while David Walker got up close with a magpie moth.

To finish is Marian Morris’s view of Rhiwlas.
