An INDEPENDENT travel agent in Oswestry has announced eight new job openings in Shropshire ahead of the opening of its new national call centre located in the town.

Polka Dot Travel, in Bailey Street, which has 19 branches across the UK and has its headquarters in Oswestry is inviting travel lovers to join the team as it expands its digital offering.

There are eight roles available including a call centre supervisor, a sales manager, five sales consultants and a travel modern apprentice, in time for them to open the doors to their new call centre in September.

Mark Johnson, director at Polka Dot Travel, said: “As the business continues to expand we are excited to open the doors to a national call centre soon which will help us to manage our online and telephone bookings which is a fast growing arm of the business.

“It is a great opportunity for enthusiastic travel lovers to join our family of travel experts.”

Meanwhile, the firm has temporarily swapped Trustpilot for toddlers as it hands its reviews over to its youngest travellers.

As part of a new ‘Little Adventures’ initiative, it wants families who have booked a holiday with them, either online or in store, to have the kids review the destination.

Reviewers will be put into a prize draw in which one young adventurer under 13 and their family will win a £250 holiday voucher.

Mr Johnson added: “We help a lot of families to find their dream holiday and we understand how important family time is. It is where memories are made, and we often find it is the children who give the most honest reviews.

“Travel reviews are great inspiration for people to learn about new destinations and help them to choose where to holiday next. To help involve the youngest travellers in the destination decision making, what could be better for them than hearing from those their own age.”

Reviewers are asked to fill in a blank template at Polka Dot's Facebook page.

Reviews can be written or shared via video and sent via Facebook, Facebook Messenger or by emailing

The competition to win £250 holiday vouchers ends at midnight on Friday, August 14.
