The mayor of Ellesmere has confirmed he will serve for another year after his publishing his annual report.
Councillor Paul Goulbourne and his deputy mayor Cllr Anne Wignall, will both continue in the role after Ellesmere Town Council was unable to hold its annual town meeting this year, because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Cllr Goulbourne also spoke of his pride at how much he and his town council colleagues have completed and thanked all for their help.
He said: "The result of not being able to hold our annual town meeting meant that I would carry on as mayor and Cllr Wignall as deputy mayor until the next meeting in May, 2021.
"I would like to record my thanks to the town clerk (Jo Butterworth) who keeps me on the straight and narrow, and reins me in when I get carried away.
"And to [the] assistant clerks as they have kept the town council running efficiently, via Zoom meetings and email, plus coordinating our volunteers.
"I would like to say how proud I am of the way businesses in Ellesmere have supported the town, with shops delivering to shielding residents, and pubs becoming takeaways and delivering to shielding residents.
“I would like to thank the town hall Ellesmere Covid-19 support group volunteers for the amazing job they have done in supporting shielding vulnerable residents."
