Oswestry Charity Qube have been overwhelmed with the number of entries for their Creativity in Isolation exhibition which launched last month.

The arts team, in Oswald Road, called for work that has been created during lockdown and the community has responded ‘wonderfully’.

The exhibition is being shown online via the Qube website www.qube-oca.org.uk and includes work from all ages, abilities and areas of the community.

There are paintings, photographs, textiles and graphic design pieces and all things in between. Over 120 entries have been submitted.

Qube arts officer Jim Creed said ‘We have been completely overwhelmed away by the number and quality of the submissions for this exhibition.

“We wanted to create a catalogue of what people had been doing during lockdown regardless of whether they were professional, amateur or first-time artists.

“It has been wonderful to see entries from such a wide range of our community. People have been really innovative and it has been fabulous to receive so many entries.”

This painting submitted by Tara Lewis is of ITU nurse Amy Dawson – based at Shrewsbury Hospital. It was painted for the #PortraitsForNHSHeroes campaign.

Artist Tara Lewis said: ‘I am so glad to take part in the exhibition and very proud to see my painting online. It meant a lot to me to paint it as I lost mygGrandmother to Coronavirus.”

Submissions are welcome – email a good quality picture to art@qube-oca.org.uk
