Children from Woodside Primary School in Oswestry have been busy making gifts to say thank you to the NHS for all of their hard work throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.

Pupils who have been at the school throughout lockdown wanted to find a safe way of saying thank you to our NHS workers for all of their hard work in order to keep us all safe.

The children enjoyed sewing some hanging hearts and decorating brightly coloured posters which they gifted to the nurses working in the Countess of Chester Hospital.

Staff nurse Danielle Burgoyne, who previously attended Woodside School as a child, said: “We absolutely loved receiving the gifts and cards made by the children. It’s been a really tough time for us all. Having these lovely gifts gives us a boost and reminds us of the importance of the job that we do.”

Year 1 Teacher, Jess Bromley added: “The children have shown such empathy and compassion for our wonderful NHS workers and were really excited to make something special for them to keep. Many of them had never sewed before so this has been a new experience for them which they enjoyed.”
