THE national finals of a photography competition will feature entries from two Llanfyllin-based photographers.

Jules Rogers and Ray Hall, who specialise in newborn photography, have had several images selected to be judged in the finals of the Xperience Profesional Portrait Awards 2020.

The pair, who run Newborn Whispers portrait studio, have had images selected in three different categories – Family, Newborn and Under 5.

Working out of a small studio and competing with bigger names, the pair are proud and honoured to have their work recognised again.

They said: “We are so proud to have our artwork selected once again this year.

“As a small photography studio competing with big high street studios, it is such an honour to have our work recognised in such a respected national portrait photography competition.”

Winners of the competition will have their image specially-printed and custom-framed to display in their home.

The portraits were selected out of more than 2,500 images in the recent second judging of the year, the finals will take place in November at The Xperience Awards ceremony.

Mark Cleghorn, the training director of the Xperience Group, said: “As professional photographers we should always demonstrate our mastery of light and control as well as capture the moment, this will then inspire our clients to appreciate and celebrate the photography even more.

“In these testing times, with our business doors closed, the creative community of small business may get overlooked, but this is a fantastic opportunity for the finalists to shout out and celebrate their business, their art and their passion.

“The standard of entries this year so far is exceptional and I am looking forward to seeing how these photographers develop trends and style even further once they are allowed to open their studio doors again.”
