FIREFIGHTERS from Oswestry were joined by colleagues from Wellington to help rescue 20 calves in Gobowen on Monday night.
The crews were sent with a rescue tender to Daywall shortly before 10pm after reports that the yearling calves were in a slurry pit.
The firefighters used strops and lines to rescue all 20 of the calves, who were safely back in a pen under the care of their farmer.
Shropshire Fire and Rescue spent around two hours and 20 minutes at the scene.
Station manager Phil Davies said: Busy and difficult incident for our @SFRS_Oswestry fire crews and @SFRS_Wellington specialist animal rescue team.
"[Twenty] yearling cattle rescued from a slurry pit. Hard and dirty (and a bit smelly) job. Successful outcome and a very pleased farmer."
