An inquest was opened into the death of a Wrexham man found dead at a retail park.

Matthew John Williams, 39, of Bryn-Y-Ffynnon in Brymbo, was pronounced dead by paramedics at Island Green retail park in Wrexham town centre on May 16.

Opening an inquest into his death at county hall in Ruthin on Tuesday, John Gittins, senior coroner for North Wales east and central, said Mr Williams’ body had been found on a spiral staircase near the Food Warehouse store.

The court heard Mr Williams was a known heroin abuser and was found with drugs paraphernalia when his body was discovered.

A full inquest into his death will be held at a date yet to be fixed.
