The co-owner of a Chirk business which has recently acquired new premises has thanked customers for their continued support throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

Edwards Dairies, of Maes-y-Parc, is expanding as it adds another premises to its current site, allowing it to stock more products to deliver to residents in and around Chirk.

Louis Edwards-Jones, who manages the business with Martin Edwards, says the addition has been necessary to keep up with demand from customers, which is something the company is very grateful for.

He said: “This has been in the pipeline for about three or four months now, but it’s been under the radar.

“We’ve taken possession of the keys this week, and this premises will now be ours alongside our usual base.

“We’re one of the few places that offer returnable glass milk bottles, and after Sir David Attenborough’s Blue Planet aired on television, there was a massive spike on the number of people reverting to using traditional milk bottles, so we saw a big influx of new customers.

“We had to pull back a few lines of what we offered because, at the current premises we have, we didn’t have the capacity to stock all of the products, and that’s with having daily deliveries. So moving into this new premises as well is going to allow us to stock a lot more products, and a wider range of them.”

“That is something which will help us massively.”

As well as being overwhelmed by the continued support from customers, Louis has been extremely thankful for the hard work and dedication of the staff, who have been working throughout the pandemic to deliver people’s orders on a daily basis.

“It’s very good to be able to help,” he added. “Especially for the milkmen and women who we have as drivers – they really are going above and beyond to deliver our products to customers.

“It’s fantastic what they’re doing, and not one driver has let us down or complained about doing it, it’s really brilliant.

“The support we have from customers is very much appreciated – it has been fantastic.”

“Since coronavirus set in, we have also seen an influx in new customers, but we’ve noticed our existing customers ordering a wider range of our products.

“A lot of older people might not have access to the internet, and we have a service which allows customers to order up until 7pm the night before for next-day delivery.

“We do try to hand out promotional leaflets where we can to let people know, but because of the amount of customers we have, it can be difficult.

“But with that being said, He added: “The phones have been red hot and credit to the office staff, they have been tremendous in handling people’s requirements.”

“We’re just trying to help people as much as we can with their daily essentials.”
