Young cricket fans in Oswestry and the surrounding areas are being encouraged to take part in a competition during the coronavirus lockdown.

Cricket Shropshire is hoping to launch a new Strategic Leisure Women’s Hundred competition – subject to coronavirus instructions.

There will be four regional teams involved in the competition, and children under the age of 16 are being asked to design a logo for their local side.

Information about the four sides – Northern Force, Iron Maidens, Southern Steamers and Severn Storm – can be found on the Shropshire Cricket Board website.

Cricket Shropshire is looking for a logo for each side, taking into account the team names and the reasons why they were chosen.

There will be a prize of a Duncan Fearnley hoodie and other cricket goodies for each of the four winners, and possibly tickets to see the Birmingham Pheonix in action.

The designs need to be scanned and submitted in either jpg, pdf or png. format to Cricket Shropshire, and need to be of a decent file size so that they can be reproduced. Entries need to be sent to admin@shropshirecricketboard.co.uk by Friday, May 15, with a name and contact details.
