FIREFIGHTERS are appeal to landowners to stop controlled burning during the coronavirus outbreak.

North Wales Fire Service has said the best way people can help them is to not create emergencies - whether that be taking care in the kitchen or avoiding controlled burning.

The latest plea comes after firefighters from Holyhead spend three hours yesterday (March 31) tackling a fire that had got out of control.

The Leader:

Firefighters were at the scene for three hours

North Wales Fire Service tweeted: "Here is what happens when controlled burning gets out of control. Firefighters from Holyhead spent three hours here yesterday. PLEASE avoid controlled burning."

Earlier this week, Paul Scott, Senior Fire Safety Manager, said: “Our big appeal to the public at this difficult time is for them to take extra care, and keep basic fire safety in mind to help avoid incidents such as these and reduce the demand on our firefighters.

“These incidents were completely avoidable - and the biggest favour you can do us right now is avoid having an emergency."
