AN author and illustrator who penned two children books inspired by Newton-le-Willows high street is going to host free online writing and drawing classes for children.

Amid the coronavirus lockdown, many are concerned how they can entertain and educate their children, particularly after schools closed for the foreseeable future on Friday.

With that in mind, mum-of-one Sarah Wilson, who lived in Newton for five years and now lives in Oswestry, is going to host online classes on Facebook Live for children aged 5 to 7.

The author, who has written and illustrated children's books The Shoe Foxes and Dragonfly Pie, said: "I think especially during this period people need to pull together and do what they can.

"I've done workshops before in schools for key stage one students and was looking to do it in the future, but with this coronavirus school closure I decided to do it for free for everyone."

The classes will be held on Facebook Live on her Facebook page @sparkyauthor from 10am on Wednesdays.
