OSWESTRY Town Council has cancelled two of its major upcoming events because of the coronavirus outbreak.
The council's scheduled VE Day meeting for April 1, has been postponed, along with the scheduled VE Day celebrations.
It has announced an event will be organised for the summer instead, but the date will be confirmed later in the year.
The Civic Dinner, which was set to be held on Saturday, April 25 at the Wynnstay Hotel, has also been cancelled.
A spokesman for the council said: "As a council, and as a community, we all have a responsibility to limit the spread of COVID-19.
"Therefore, in line with advice received from government about social gatherings, the mayor of Oswestry, Councillor John Price, has made the decision to cancel the Civic Dinner which was due to be held on Saturday, April 25 at the Wynnstay Hotel.
"Given the nature of the circumstances, and being out of our control, we do hope you will understand.
"Please note that those who have already paid cheques/cash to date, will of course be refunded in full."
