The MP for Clwyd South believes families and businesses in the region will benefit from the latest budget announcement which is set to be delivered by the government.

Simon Baynes MP is delighted with the measures, which were set out by Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak last week, and is adamant they will help to deliver a decade of prosperity and growth.

Among promises made in the announcement was more funding for the NHS, £5 billion to deliver gigabit-capable broadband to harder-to-reach places and more than £600 billion for the UK’s roads.

Mr Baynes is convinced the budget will help many Clwyd South families with the cost of living.

“Last year’s election gave a clear verdict. Now the people’s government is delivering a budget which delivers on our promises to the British people – it is a budget of a government that gets things done.

“Investment will reach record levels over the next five years, as the Conservatives commit to levelling up across the country – benefitting families and businesses in all corners of the country including Clwyd South.

“I am delighted that we have set out measures to support families and help them with the cost of living, while continuing to invest in Britain’s future responsibly – laying the foundations for a decade of growth and prosperity.

“This is the first budget delivered outside of the EU for more than five decades. It sets out a clear, one nation, path for the government to get things done.”

With Mr Sunak pledging more money towards providing improved mobile signal and better broadband for rural areas, Ceiriog Valley residents will have the opportunity to raise any issues with their connectivity at an upcoming surgery.

Wrexham Council’s connectivity officer, Michael Dugine, and Mr Baynes, will be at the Llanarmon DC Centenary Hall on Friday, March 27 from 1.30pm until 3.30pm to hold the surgery, subject to coronavirus restrictions.

Earlier in the day, Michael will be at Canolfan Ceiriog with business support officer Hayley Morgan and Beverley Parry-Jones.

Michael and Hayley recent had the chance to see the issues caused by poor connectivity in the region, when they visited Pandy residents Graham and Joy Constable.

The pair run a business with just a faint broadband signal that only works occasionally, and are mostly without mobile phone signal too.

There are presently two masts being put up in the Ceiriog Valley for the emergency services at Springhill and Glasaber, Llanarmon DC, but it is not known when these will come into use.
