POLICE have advised people to be aware of scam emails regarding the recent Coronavirus/Covid-19 outbreak which have cost victims more than £800,000 in a month.
Nationally, people have received emails notifying them that they are eligible for tax rebates as part of a new tax refund programme dealing with the outbreak, among other scams.
North Wales Police (NWP) has warned people about the scams and has advised them to take the advice of Action Fraud.
A spokesman for NWP said: “We are aware there are scams nationally regarding the Coronavirus with people trying to exploit the situation.
“We advise anyone to go to Action Fraud for advice on how to avoid being scammed by calling 0300 123 2040 or visiting their website for advice at https://www.actionfraud.police.uk/ ”
Advice from Action Fraud on its website says: “Don’t click on the links or attachments in suspicious emails, and never respond to unsolicited messages and calls that ask for your personal or financial details.”
