More than 20 schools are closed as flooding continues to cause chaos across Mid Wales.

Pupils will enjoy an extended half term break as 24 schools announced on Monday morning that they will not open due to adverse conditions and health and safety reasons.

At lunchtime, Newtown High School announced on Facebook: "Due to adverse weather conditions, we are making arrangements for the students travelling on the Abermule and Llandyssil buses to be collected and brought home.

"We are currently contacting parents directly. If parents of these students wish to come and collect them personally, please contact the school directly."
