Llanfyllin Town Council has filled another slot after voting to co-opt a new councillor.

Julian Raymond-Sandy, who organised the town's first-ever Drag Race around the streets, raising thousands of pounds for cancer charities in 2019, was invited onto the council at its meeting last week.

With around nine councillors present, the vote was taken unanimously to welcome Councillor Sandy, and he is the third to join the council in as many months.

In his bid to join the council, Cllr Sandy spoke his former experiences working in the civil service at various locations on the south coast, including running programmes for the public.

He will take his place on the council next month, from their March meeting, onward.

The co-opting of Cllr Sandy means Llanfyllin is now back to full strength after a number of resignations, including former mayor Simon Baynes, who is now an MP.
