WRITERS from budding novices to skilled penmanship are being encouraged to join a new group in Oswestry.

Jan Brown is hosting a new writing group on the first Wednesday of each month at the British Ironwork Centre.

She is hoping to attract a good crowd of people who want to learn or improve their standard of writing, whether it's for day-to-day or for storytelling.

"Come and write with a friendly and supportive group of writers," she said.

"Any skill level, including complete novices, are welcome.

"The aim is to enjoy writing for its own sake as well as to inspire confidence to approach writing for publication.

"I believe that writing is a powerful tool able to heal, to sustain and uplift and writing should primarily always be for pleasure, publication is the icing on the cake but not the cake.

"I am looking forward to meeting other aspiring writers, to sharing thoughts and ideas and enjoying challenges and successes together."

The group will meet from 10am until 12.30pm at The British Ironwork Centre outside Oswestry with each session costing £5.
