COUNCILLORS in Oswestry will be asked to give their support for plans to change an empty shop into a restaurant/cafe in Leg Street.

The application, which is before Shropshire Council, will go in front of Oswestry town councillors for comment at their Planning Committee meeting on Wednesday.

The plans have been submitted by Tawanda Melusi, with details included in the application stating there will be no interior changes to the building but an extractor fan will be added.

Other proposals up for discussion on the agenda for the meeting, which starts at 7pm, include the council's own plans to install a disabled access ramp from Castle Street to the Horse Market Car Park and a house conversion in Upper Brook Street.

The building is Grade II-listed and currently serves as a an office, but the Chamberlain Property Group Ltd, from Walsall, want to make internal alterations and convert it into a dwelling.

Councillors will also be asked to comment on the proposed development at Mile End Roundabout, which are being proposed by Shropshire Council, among other plans.

meanwhile, Shropshire Council's most up-to-date Place Plans will be discussed, as will Oswestry's Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) funds.

The meeting will then discussion electric vehicle charging points in private session, where press and public are excluded.
