A LONG-STANDING café volunteer team member has celebrated a milestone birthday.

Colin Brentnall has worked at the café at Alyn Waters since it first opened 15 years ago.

The cafe has been operated by local charity Groundwork North Wales since April 2019 who continue to support the volunteer work opportunities team members.

Staff from the charity Groundwork North Wales wanted to celebrate this milestone with Colin and thank him for his hard work at the cafe.

Adrian Thomas venue manager for the café and function room was helped by Ben Lloyd and Helen Hughes to bake a three-layer birthday cake.

Lesley Roberts, Colin’s sister, joined in the celebrations along with the café team and explained that Colin loves coming to the café.

She said: “Colin loves coming to work here at Alyn Waters. Being part of the team has really brought him out of himself. He even tells us what to do at home with the recycling as that is part of his job here.”

The name Caffi Cyfle means café of opportunity which Groundwork North Wales had said they feel embodies the aspiration of the business to continue to be a place where individuals with learning difficulties get to learn new skills and experiences.

The cafe at Alyn Waters is open seven days a week from 9.30am until 4pm during the winter months and 9.30am until 4.30pm in the summer.

Colin will be celebrating with the rest of his family and friends with a party on his actual birthday today - Saturday, February 1.
