RESIDENTS have been invited to discover more about job trends and apprenticeships

Pupils, parents and guardians are invited to an event at Village Hotel, Ewloe, on January29 between 4pm and 7pm, to find out more about current job trends and the variety of apprenticeship opportunities.

Organised by Careers Wales, the ‘Choose you Future North East’ event is an interactive careers and skills festival, aimed at school pupils from Wrexham, Flintshire, Denbighshire and Conwy.

Pupils aged between 14 – 18 years old will have the opportunity to find out about local, regional and national job trends and the apprenticeship opportunities available to them, by engaging with employers and training providers from a range of different sectors.

Nikki Lawrence, Chief Executive at Careers Wales said: "It’s important that pupils are aware of apprenticeship opportunities. Talking to current apprentices will give pupils an insight into what apprenticeships in different sectors involve and the benefits of each.

"Apprenticeships often work as an ideal transition from secondary education into employment, giving young people the opportunity to focus on training for their career by gaining hands-on experience and applying their skills immediately."

Pupils will be able to interact face-to-face with current industry experts and current apprentices, to find out about apprenticeships first-hand. Attending the event will be a range of employers and apprentices that will include Airbus, Kellogg’s, Wynne Construction, JCB and many more.

Information will also be available from training providers, colleges and universities such as Bangor University and Coleg Cambria, about the different courses on offer.

Presentations will be given throughout the evening about apprenticeships. Careers Wales Advisers will also be at the event to offer advice and guidance, and offer pupils the chance to have a go at using Careers Wales 360 Virtual Reality headsets.

Nikki added: "Being aware of current job trends is vital for young people looking to enter the workplace. New jobs are constantly arising and existing ones are continuously changing due to technological developments and changing demands.

"It’s important to stay up to date with employment trends so that pupils can prepare and gain the right skills to succeed in the future."
