A long-standing shop owner in Oswestry has decided to retired.

Terry Davies has been running the Park Avenue Stores for 43 years and this year will be his last.

He has decided to retire due to health reasons and will be passing the store on to son, Steven Davies.

The 68-year-old explained how he has great memories from the shop and some lovely, local customers.

He said: “I’m looking forward to a break and its my birthday in February so we’re going to celebrate in Scotland as we have booked a holiday up there.”

There will be some changes to the store as The Flower Gallery, which currently in Bailey Street will be moving into the shop, while the corner store will be moving just up the road to an old hair salon that Mr Davies owns and has been empty since last September.

Here, son Steven will be selling basic commodities that people need but he won’t be selling alcohol.

Mr Davies added: “I would like to thank all the customers for all their support over the years.

“I have had some customers that have been coming here for as long as I’ve been here and their still coming and supporting me today.”
