FIRE crews tackled a ‘large fire’ at a factory site in Chirk.

A spokesman for North Wales Fire and Rescue Service confirmed they were called at 2.14am yesterday to reports of a fire in the open at Kronospan.

Three appliances remained at the scene yesterday afternoon monitoring the situation and moving wood.

A spokesman for Kronospan said: “A fire was detected in a long log wall at around 2am this morning on the Logyard at Kronospan, Chirk.

“North Wales Fire and Rescue Service were called to deal with the issue.

“The fire service currently have three appliances in attendance. The situation is under control, and they are in the process of disassembling the log wall and dealing with the incident.

“The incident occurred in an isolated part of the site and no-one has been injured.
