WEST Mercia Police believe a car fire in St Martins on Monday was started deliberately.

Firefighters were called to a car fire at 11.18pm in Cross Lanes.

Police were later informed about the blaze, and are now appealing for information.

A spokesman for West Mercia Police said: "We received reports of a car fire at St Martins, Oswestry at just before midnight on Monday, January 6.

"Officers believe the fire was started deliberately. If anyone has information in relation to this incident they are asked to call West Mercia Police on 101 quoting reference number 0743S of January 6, 2020, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."

The incident comes almost 24 hours after another car fire in St Martins in Cherry Tree Drive.

West Mercia Police have not confirmed whether they believe the incidents are linked.
