The NEW member of parliament for Clywd South,, Simon Baynes, has carried out his first engagement in the constituency since he was elected.

Mr Baynes defeated Susan Elan Jones at the election on December 12, becoming the first Conservative MP in the constituency since its inception in 1997.

As his first constituency event since being elected as MP for Clwyd South, Mr Baynes attended the Esclusham Senior Citizens Christmas Party on December 13, where he was delighted to meet people since being elected.

“It was a wonderful evening and very special for me as my first constituency event as MP for Clwyd South,” said Mr Baynes.

“It is organised each year by the Esclusham Community Council and the Hall was packed out and a great evening enjoyed by all.

"It was very good to meet so many people and to help on the raffle with the mayor of Wrexham, Councillor Rob Walsh, and Esclusham County Cllr Mark Pritchard who is also Leader of Wrexham Council.

“Thank you to everyone for organising such a great event and for making me so welcome.”

Mr Baynes started life in parliament at the beginning of the week, when he was officially sworn in as an MP.

He previously fought the seat in 2017 and then resigned as mayor of Llanfyllin Town Council to challenge for the seat once again in 2019.
