Residents and staff at a care home in the Ceiriog Valley received a special visit from the mayor at a recent Christmas-themed event.

The Leonard Cheshire Care Home in Dolywern held its Christmas Fair last week, with plenty of festive goods up for sale at a variety of stalls.

Mayor of Wrexham, Rob Walsh, was in attendance to open the fair and spent some time browsing the stalls and meeting residents.

Wrexham County Borough councillor for the Ceiriog Valley, Councillor Trevor Bates, was also in attendance and was pleased with how well the event went.

“It was great to see such a good turnout and it was nice to have the mayor along to get involved and have a look around the stalls,” he said.

“The staff were very festive and the residents got involved which is always great to see.

“I know a lot of money was raised for the home which is fantastic.”

Cllr Bates said he believes events like the Christmas Fair are great for those who live at the home.

He added: “Events like this are invaluable for the home and the residents there.

“It’s always fun for them to have people coming along and it’s nice for them to see the mayor too.

“There’s always a lot going on there at this time of year as they get ready for Christmas, so there’s always a good atmosphere here.”
