A HOST of Oswestry Olympian Club records tumbled at the recent Telford 10k on December 8.

It was a bleak and blustery day, however, good parts of the course were sheltered by trees.

The Telford course is renowned for being a fast course and it tends to get more runners finishing under 30 minutes than any other 10k race in the country.

This time, there were runners from New Zealand and the Netherlands and from many clubs from around the UK all looking for fast times.

The race was won by Adam Craig from Edinburgh in a new course record time of 28 minutes 31 secs.

Oswestry Olympian Ali Lavender was 11th lady in a time of 34:13, smashing her own club record.

Oli Blake was in similar record-breaking mood finishing in 30:49 breaking a club record he set back in 2009.

Oswestry Olympian results: 49 Oli Blake 30:49; 191 Ali Lavender 34:13 11th (F); 196th Peter Butler-Jones 34:20; 235 Matt Collins 35:39; 319 Richard Davies 37:27; 437 Charlie Woolcock 40:07; 466 Dave Newton 40:45 (10th M55); 560 Louise Woolcock 43:33 (F); 612 Maread Hyland 45:07; 655 Victoria Hall 46:42; 671 Mark Evans 45:22; 735 Ray Pickett 49:36; 758 Ashling Donohue Harrison 50:37 (PB) and 872 Ellen Harrison 54:40
