A SUPPLY chain partner has been appointed for Rhyl’s new North Denbighshire Community Hospital.
Kier has been appointed to manage all aspects of the construction and planning of the £40m development, to be built on and around the site of the Royal Alex.
The health and well-being campus aims to bring essential care services ‘closer to home'.

Services include a minor injuries, being called a same day service; older persons mental health; sexual health; day therapy assessment unit (IV Suite); community dental; radiology services; enhanced outpatient therapy service and inpatient facilities with a ward establishment of 28 beds - 22 of them will be in single rooms with en suite facilities.
A spokesperson from Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB) said: "The project will introduce a range of new services for residents in Rhyl and the surrounding area. The new hospital includes inpatient beds, services for treating minor injuries and ailments and a community well-being hub and café. The project also includes a refurbishment of the existing Royal Alexandra Hospital.

"Work is now under way to complete the full business case for the project, which includes developing detailed specifications of rooms, and working through planning permission for the project."
He said: "We have a chance to create something really strong how we care the older people which blurs the boundaries between physical and mental health. The older person mental health psychiatrists will be there as well as a whole physical team - district nurses, social workers and therapists."
The health board intends to submit a completed Full Business Case to Welsh Government in September 2020. Construction work is set to start in early 2021.
